Barbara began her legal career in 1980 working for some of the finest civil defense attorneys in Kern County.  Since 1995, Barbara has worked for David K. Cohn, managing partner of Chain | Cohn | Stiles, as his lead paralegal and administrator of his personal injury practice.  Barbara has extensive experience in complex litigation including catastrophic injuries, products liability, premises liability, third party industrial incidents, vehicular negligence, and claims against government entities.

Barbara is a graduate of the Attorney Assistant Program through CSUB.  In 2000, she earned her Certified Legal Assistant designation through the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA).  In 2002, Barbara earned her California Advanced Specialty in Civil Litigation through NALA.  In recent years, Barbara has earned her Advanced Certified Paralegal designations in Trial Practices, PI-Wrongful Death, and Discovery through NALA.

She has volunteered for multiple terms on the Board of the Kern County Paralegal Association (KCPA) serving in the capacity as Programs/Education Chair, Public Information Officer, and CAPA Secondary.  In 2003 and 2011, Barbara was the recipient of the “Kern County Paralegal of the Year” awarded by KCPA.

Barbara has been a former adjunct instructor at California State University, Bakersfield, Extended Studies Program, where she has taught Personal Injury Law.

In her spare time, Barbara enjoys blogging on legal matters.  Barbara is the creator and author of The California Litigator, a website that provides educational resources relating to California civil litigation. Her writings have been published by the State Bar of California; Paralegal Gateway; KNOW, A Magazine for Paralegals; The Estrin Report; California Alliance of Paralegal Associations, the Kern County Bar Association, and numerous other legal publications throughout the United States.
