Majority of Nighttime Pedestrian Fatalities Occur in Downtown, East Bakersfield


KGET-17 News covers Chain | Cohn | Clark’s examination of a new study that shows a surge in nighttime pedestrian fatalities, including in Bakersfield. According to recent statistics, more than 1,300 crashes involving pedestrians happened in Bakersfield from 2012 to 2023. Most of the pedestrian crashes were between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Majority of those crashes took place in the downtown and east Bakersfield area.
